Puppy Breath Explained!

Puppy Breath Explained!

Puppy Breath Explained! If you were asked to put together a list of some of the best smells in the world, you probably wouldn’t put “dog breath” anywhere on it. But believe it or not, there are actually a lot of people who enjoy the smell of a puppy’s breath. While this isn’t always the case, most puppy breath smells quite pleasant and isn’t as bad as you might think. There are many puppy owners who will often go out of their way to get a whiff of it, as silly as it may sound.

So why does puppy breath smell so good when the average dog’s breath smells so bad?

It’s generally believed to be because most puppies are still drinking milk from their mothers and haven’t yet started to chow down on regular dog food that can alter the scent of their breath. Puppies’ mouths are still very clean, and they don’t yet contain any bacteria or plaque, which can lead to foul odors. Additionally, they haven’t developed any illnesses yet that can play a role in the smell of their breath. For these reasons, you might find that you like the smell of puppy breath when you come across it.

Of course, puppy breath doesn’t last forever

Once a puppy starts to grow up and begins eating regular food, his or her breath will often start to smell bad. Puppy breath usually disappears within just a few months of a dog being born. But you can prolong the presence of puppy breath and help your full-grown dog have better smelling breath by giving it the oral care it needs. From brushing your dog’s teeth several times every week to taking your dog to the vet for regular check-ups, there are many things you can do to keep puppy breath around for as long as possible.
